Use dependencies, not a promised number of days
Solar, storage and charging projects often share supply capacity, board space, metering and control requirements. Treating them as unrelated purchases can leave gaps between scopes. This worksheet helps record what must be confirmed, who owns it and what evidence closes the step. The order can overlap or change with the site.
Use the site-assessment checklist first. Then discuss the combined scope through solar and battery planning and EV charging. This page is not a statement of Solar Battery Australia’s delivery process, availability or timelines.
Dependency and responsibility table
| Stage | Before moving on | Possible responsible parties | Record / owner / date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Goals and data | Agree current loads, future loads and backup priorities | Owner, operator or building manager | ________________ |
| Survey and supply | Confirm roof, access, equipment locations and electrical constraints | Designer, electrician, roof/structural adviser as needed | ________________ |
| Design and scope | Resolve retained equipment, controls, circuits and exclusions | System designer and relevant installers | ________________ |
| Permissions | Confirm network, property and planning requirements | Network, owner/strata, authority and applicant | ________________ |
| Metering coordination | Agree retailer/provider prerequisites and access | Retailer, metering provider, electrician | ________________ |
| Installation scheduling | Required approvals, equipment and access are ready | Contracted installers and site owner | ________________ |
| Commissioning / handover | Record tests, configuration, instructions and outstanding items | Installers and owner | ________________ |
| Follow-up billing/data | Check complete operating and billing periods | Owner, retailer and support provider | ________________ |
Assign ownership instead of assuming one party does everything
The installer may submit some applications, while a retailer arranges metering and an owners corporation grants common-property permission. Ask for those responsibilities in writing. The smart-meter process guide separates the parties. If a stage depends on someone outside the installation contract, record that dependency explicitly.
Resolve shared infrastructure early
A switchboard assessment should consider the combined loads and proposed equipment. Where supply constraints arise, discuss three-phase upgrade assessment rather than assuming an upgrade is required or sufficient. Smart-meter coordination is another workstream, not proof that the supply or board is suitable.
Keep design changes visible
| Change | Effect on scope / approvals | Owner and decision |
|---|---|---|
| Equipment substitution | ________________________________ | ________________ |
| Additional load or backup circuit | ________________________________ | ________________ |
| Site condition or access change | ________________________________ | ________________ |
| Approval or metering requirement | ________________________________ | ________________ |
A different inverter or battery can change compatibility and backup behaviour. Read the battery retrofit guide before treating substitutions as equivalent. In a new build, pre-construction solar provisions help coordinate work before walls and roof layouts are fixed.
Define completion in records as well as hardware
Use the handover checklist to collect documentation, monitoring ownership and written operating instructions. Note unresolved items, their responsible party and an agreed next action. The worksheet is printable and unsaved; keep your completed copy with the project records rather than entering private details into this website.
